Fortnite Ranked reset on November 1, 2026, when the Treasure Hunters update went live with v43.00. The mini-season closes out Chapter 7 and brings One Piece themed rank rewards, new rank icons, and a live progress tracker inside matches.
The ladder now has 22 divisions, and 2026 changed more about Ranked than any year since launch. Elite and Champion gained divisions, Battle Royale and Zero Build share one rank, and your Skill Rating survives every reset. Epic’s Treasure Hunters announcement confirms the new season, rewards, and icons.
All Fortnite ranks in order
Every rank from Bronze to Champion has three divisions (I, II, III). Unreal has none; instead, you get a number on the global Unreal Leaderboard.
| Rank | Divisions | Share of BR players (Sept 2026) |
|---|---|---|
| Bronze | 3 | 47.4% |
| Silver | 3 | 20% |
| Gold | 3 | 7.7% |
| Platinum | 3 | 8.8% |
| Diamond | 3 | 6.1% |
| Elite | 3 | 5.7% |
| Champion | 3 | 2.7% |
| Unreal | Leaderboard | 1.7% |
Epic doesn’t publish rank distribution. The figures above come from Fortnite Tracker’s sample of over 4 million Battle Royale profiles, so treat them as estimates. Notably, nearly half of tracked players sit in Bronze, which means reaching Gold already puts you ahead of most of the player base.
Elite and Champion only got their three divisions with v40.20 in April 2026. Before that, each was a single step, so reaching Unreal now takes noticeably more climbing than it did a year ago.
What is Unreal Legends?
Unreal Legends is a status above Unreal, added in Chapter 7 Season 3. Epic’s May 29 competitive update lists three requirements, and you need all of them at once:
- Reach Unreal in a Ranked season
- Hold a Skill Rating of 2,500 or higher
- Place in the Top 500 on the Unreal Leaderboard
The catch: it isn’t permanent. Fall below any one requirement and the status disappears until you earn it back. Outlets including AllThingsHow report it applies to standard Battle Royale only.
How ranking up works
You gain or lose progress after every match based on placement and eliminations. Placement weighs more than kills, late eliminations count more than early ones, and taking out higher-ranked players earns extra.
Here’s how the system handles the situations players ask about most:
- Shared ranks: Battle Royale and Zero Build share one rank since v40.00 (Chapter 7 Season 2). Reload uses its own ladder.
- Demotion: Below Unreal, dropping your progress bar to zero knocks you down a division. Once you hit Unreal, you can’t be demoted for the rest of the season.
- Decay: There’s no rank decay for inactivity.
- Unlocking Ranked: New accounts must finish the Outlast 500 Players Kickstart quest. Then toggle Ranked on in the mode selection menu.

The new Live Ranked Status Tracker shows the percentage you’re gaining or losing as your placement changes mid-match, according to Epic’s 43.00 update notes. Previously, you only saw the result on the post-match screen.
The October 30 matchmaking change
On October 30, 2026, Epic changed Ranked matchmaking to put lobby fairness ahead of queue speed. The system now builds several possible lobbies while you wait and picks the closest skill match. EsportNow reports it covers Battle Royale, Zero Build, Reload, and Rocket Racing.
There are three trade-offs worth knowing:
- Parties match at the rank of their highest member. Carrying a Bronze friend in an Unreal-level party puts them in Unreal-level lobbies.
- Queues are longer, especially for high ranks and off-peak hours.
- Ping may rise, since the system can place you on a farther server when matches are hard to fill.
Epic says the changes aren’t final and will keep shifting based on data.
Fortnite Treasure Hunters ranked rewards
Reaching each rank during the Treasure Hunters Ranked season unlocks a free cosmetic. These stack with the Treasure Hunters Battle Pass skins rather than replacing them.
| Rank reached | Reward |
|---|---|
| Gold | AHOY! Emoticon |
| Platinum | By Order of Geno Loading Screen |
| Diamond | This Must Be the Spot Spray |
| Elite | Par-Rot Back Bling |
| Unreal | Double-Duty Duelist Pickaxe |
Epic’s announcement doesn’t list a separate Champion reward this season. However, the rank icons get a refresh: Elite carries a compass, Champion flies the Peely Roger, and Unreal shows a Gem Llama.
Beyond seasonal cosmetics, the Axe of Unreal is a progressive pickaxe. You earn it the first time you reach Unreal, and it gains a tier every later season you hit Unreal again. Battle Royale and Reload track separate Axe progress.
Why your rank matters beyond cosmetics
Your Ranked tier now feeds into competitive eligibility. Epic confirmed that tournament eligibility uses the higher of your current or previous season’s rank, so a strong Override run still counts. According to AllThingsHow, reaching Champion or Unreal grants access to Division 1 Cups, the entry point into FNCS.

Treasure Hunters also has two One Piece cups: the Zoro Cup on November 6 and the Buggy Cup on November 13. Top regional players can earn the Roronoa Zoro and Buggy outfits, both covered in our One Piece skins guide. Check the in-game Compete tab for times in your region.
Wrapping up
With Skill Rating carrying over, ranked divisions doubling at the top, and stricter matchmaking, Fortnite Ranked rewards consistency more than it did at the start of 2026. Treasure Hunters is expected to end on December 5, 2026 with the Chapter 7 finale, so the clock on these rewards is shorter than a usual season. Chapter 8 will likely bring another reset, though Epic hasn’t announced a date.
