The Gum Gum Fruit arrived with the Treasure Hunters mini-season (v43.00) on November 1, 2026, as part of the Fortnite One Piece collab. It is a Mythic item that turns you into Monkey D. Luffy, complete with rubber punches, a long-range launch, and a foot slam.
There’s no Item Shop purchase involved. The fruit is free floor loot in Battle Royale on Crossbones Isle, and you don’t need to own the Luffy Outfit to use it. The mini-season, detailed in Epic’s Treasure Hunters announcement, currently runs through December 5, 2026, when the Chapter 7 finale is expected.
Steps to get the Gum Gum Fruit in Fortnite
- Queue into a Battle Royale match on Crossbones Isle.
- Play the early game normally. The fruit does not exist at the start of the match.
- Watch for the on-screen announcement mid-match. The Devil Fruit icon then appears on your HUD and map.
- Rotate to the marked spot and pick up the fruit from the ground.
- Select it in your inventory and consume it to transform into Luffy.

Importantly, the alert goes to every player in the lobby, and a second alert fires once someone eats the fruit. Expect a third-party fight at the marker.
Reports differ on the exact trigger: some tie the spawn to a Rift event, while others say two Devil Fruits drop together at points across the map. Epic has not published a spawn timer.
Gum Gum Fruit abilities, damage, and cooldown

| Ability | Input | What it does | Damage / cooldown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gum Gum Pistol | Fire (hold to charge) | Stretch punch straight ahead; turns into a kick mid-air | 50 base, up to 150 fully charged |
| Gum Gum Rocket | ADS (hold, aim, release) | Launches you where you aim; up to about 200 meters at full charge from height | 20-second cooldown |
| Gum Gum Battleaxe | ADS again mid-air after a Rocket | Foot slam on landing that hits a small area | Not published |
Epic has not published official values, so these figures come from early testing and may change with hotfixes.
The catch: water and no extra protection
Like in the anime, water hurts you. You take damage while standing in it, which matters on an island map ringed by coastline and rivers. Use bridges and land routes, and never aim a Rocket launch over open sea at low height.
The fruit also gives no shields or damage reduction. You take full damage from weapons, so treat it as a mobility and melee tool, not a free win. You also can’t hold a second Devil Fruit at the same time.
How to use the Gum Gum Fruit well
- Rotate with the Rocket. A full-height launch covers about 200 meters, which makes it a strong late-storm escape.
- Chain Rocket into Battleaxe. Launch toward a squad, then press ADS mid-air to slam into them on landing.
- Charge the Pistol only when safe. The 150-damage punch is strong, but standing still to charge it makes you an easy target.
- Leave space for the cooldown. Twenty seconds is long in a fight, so don’t burn the Rocket unless you have cover at the landing spot.
Gum Gum Fruit quest
The One Piece quest “Travel distance using Gum-Gum Fruit’s Gum-Gum Rocket” asks for 250 meters in total. Since one full-charge launch covers about 200 meters, plan on at least two launches, about 20 seconds apart. Launch from high ground to finish faster.
Eating the fruit also reportedly counts toward the Week 0 “Consume a Devil Fruit” quest.

Wrapping up
The Gum Gum Fruit is one of the best rotation tools on Crossbones Isle right now, but the public alert makes it one of the most contested pickups in each match. Keep heals ready before you push the marker, and avoid the coast once you’ve eaten it.
More One Piece content is still rolling out, with Zoro, Sanji, and the Chopper Sidekick due in the Item Shop on November 7 and Buggy on November 13. Epic could also tweak Devil Fruit damage or cooldowns in upcoming hotfixes.
