Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3, Runners, has turned Sprite collecting into one of the most rewarding progression systems the game has introduced in a while. With the new Sprite Mastery track, Epic Games is now rewarding dedicated players with free glider cosmetics known as Sprite Shade Umbrellas.
That’s a big deal because these aren’t Battle Pass rewards or Item Shop cosmetics. They’re earned entirely through progression, meaning anyone willing to master enough Sprites can unlock them without spending a single V-Buck. The only catch is that mastering Sprites takes time and a bit of strategy, especially if you’re aiming for every umbrella before the season ends.
Below, you’ll find every Sprite Umbrella currently known, exactly what it takes to unlock each one, and the fastest ways to rack up Sprite Mastery before Season 3 wraps up.
What Are Sprite Shade Umbrellas in Fortnite?
Sprite Umbrellas, officially the Sprite Shade Umbrella line, are glider cosmetics rewarded through the Sprite Mastery Track rather than sold directly. They sit alongside other mastery rewards like Portable Extractors, Sprite Dust, bonus XP, and the Extraction Frame and Sprite Pod Back Blings, all of which unlock as you master more Sprites across a match. Mastering a Sprite means leveling it from Level 1 to Level 5 and successfully extracting it so that progress is permanently saved to your account.
All Sprite Shade Umbrellas in Fortnite and How to Unlock Them

Only one of the three known Sprite Umbrellas is currently claimable. The other two are confirmed but not yet live, and Epic hasn’t published their exact mastery requirements yet.
1. Air Sprite Shade Umbrella
Unlock requirement: Master 21 Sprites
Status: Available now
Cost: Free (Sprite Mastery Track reward)
The Air Sprite Shade Umbrella is currently the only Sprite Umbrella you can actually claim. As soon as your account reaches 21 mastered Sprites, the umbrella is automatically added to your locker—no additional challenges or purchases required.
2. Fire Sprite Shade Umbrella
Unlock requirement: Higher mastery count than Air (exact number not yet confirmed)
Status: Coming later in Chapter 7 Season 3
Cost: Free (Sprite Mastery Track reward)
Epic has confirmed the Fire Sprite Shade Umbrella is coming, and it will demand more mastered Sprites than the Air variant. The precise threshold hasn’t been published as of this writing, so until Epic officially confirms the requirement, treat any numbers circulating online as speculation.
3. Water Sprite Shade Umbrella
Unlock requirement: Higher mastery count than Fire (exact number not yet confirmed)
Status: Coming later in Chapter 7 Season 3
Cost: Free (Sprite Mastery Track reward)
The Water Sprite Shade Umbrella rounds out the set and will apparently require the steepest mastery count of the three. It appears to be the ultimate reward for players who fully commit to the Sprite Mastery system throughout the season.
Fastest Ways to Master Sprites in Fortnite

Earning Sprite Mastery Points (MP) efficiently is the key to unlocking the umbrellas as quickly as possible.
- Loot chests and ammo crates across the map. Each container grants 75 MP toward your currently equipped Sprite.
- Get eliminations. Every down or elimination adds 200 MP, making aggressive play one of the quickest paths to Level 5.
- Extract duplicate Sprites at an Extraction Site or with a Portable Extractor. This also adds MP and is essential, since extraction is what locks in your mastery progress permanently. Skip it, and the level doesn’t count.
- Use Quack Snacks when you find them. This consumable instantly bumps your active Sprite up a level, no farming required.
- Prioritize the teleporter tunnels scattered around the Shattered Coast. They tend to hold some of the highest densities of chests and ammo crates on the map, letting you stack MP quickly in one location.
Best Time to Farm Sprite Mastery
Epic regularly rotates Sprite-focused events throughout the week, and farming during these windows can significantly speed up your progress.
- Mastery Mondays: Runs for 24 hours starting at 6 AM PT (9 AM ET) every Monday. Legendary and Mythic Sprites spawn more often, Sprite XP is doubled, and Sprite Dust from extractions is doubled too.
- New Sprite Thursdays: A new Sprite or special variant is added to the pool every Thursday, which is often your best shot at fresh Legendary or Mythic spawns before the community figures out optimal routes.
- Saturday Power Hours: Refreshed gameplay modifiers run at 3:30 PM ET (12:30 PM PT) and again at 9:30 PM ET (6:30 PM PT), each a good window to chase whichever Sprite variant you’re still missing.
Stacking a farming session on top of Mastery Monday is generally the most efficient route to 21 mastered Sprites, since the doubled XP and Dust compound with whatever else you’re already doing.
Wrapping Up
The Air Sprite Shade Umbrella is one of the best rewards introduced through the Sprite Mastery system so far, giving players a meaningful cosmetic incentive beyond Back Blings and Portable Extractors. With the Fire and Water variants still on the way, and Chapter 7 Season 3 running through August 19, 2026, there’s plenty of reason to keep mastering Sprites even after unlocking the first umbrella.
Sprite Shade Umbrellas are free glider cosmetics earned by reaching Sprite Mastery milestones during Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3.
Three are currently known: Air, Fire, and Water. Only the Air Sprite Shade Umbrella is available at the time of writing.
Master 21 Sprites on your account. Once you reach that milestone, the umbrella is automatically added to your locker.
Epic Games has confirmed both umbrellas will arrive later in Chapter 7 Season 3, but hasn’t announced their release dates or mastery requirements.
Yes. Reaching Level 5 isn’t enough—you must extract the Sprite at an Extraction Site or with a Portable Extractor for the mastery to be permanently recorded.
