Free Fortnite Skins October 2026: Every Skin You Can Claim Right Now

There are 20 free Fortnite skins you can claim right now in October 2026, and two of them disappear on October 31. Fortnitemares 2026 added the Jack-A-Nape outfit (finish 26 event quests) and the Gold Punk outfit (redeem a Fortnite gift card), and both expire when Chapter 7 Season 4 ends on Halloween. Everything else on this list comes from buying partner games on the Epic Games Store, linking accounts, or PlayStation Plus.

A few things changed since September, and some older guides still have them wrong. The First Order Stormtrooper is no longer free for linking MyDisney (that promo ended October 31, 2025), Yeddy’s mobile offer closed in August, and Jess left Save the World in June. I’ve moved all of those to the expired section below.

How many free Fortnite skins are available right now?

Twenty, as of October 7, 2026. That count covers Fortnitemares rewards, Epic Games Store tie-ins, account linking, and platform perks. Epic doesn’t publish a single master list, so other sites land on slightly different numbers depending on whether they count region-locked or paywalled offers.

One status I couldn’t confirm: Thrilldiver. Some trackers still list it as a mobile reward, but I found no current official listing for it, so check your quest tab before counting on it.

How to get the free Fortnitemares 2026 skins

Fortnitemares runs from October 1 to October 31, 2026, and it’s the only part of this list with a hard deadline this month. Do these first.

Jack-A-Nape: finish 26 Nitemare quests

The quests are split across three modes: Battle Royale (or Zero Build), the Horde Rush limited-time mode, and Reload. Epic is releasing them in weekly waves. Only seven were live at launch, and the next batch lands on October 8, so you can’t finish everything in one weekend.

You don’t have to wait for the skin to get something, either. Rewards unlock along the way, starting with a banner at 2 quests and ending with the Jack-A-Nape outfit at 26.

1. Open the Quests tab and find the Fortnitemares section.
2. Complete the Battle Royale Nitemare quests in BR or Zero Build.
3. Complete the Horde Rush Nitemare quests in the Horde Rush mode.
4. Complete the Reload Nitemare quests in Reload.
5. Check back each week for the new wave until all 26 are done.

Gold Punk: redeem a Fortnite gift card

Gold Punk is a gift-with-purchase. Redeem a Fortnite or Epic gift card at epicgames.com/redeem before October 31, then launch Fortnite to claim the outfit. Gift cards are region-locked, so buy one that matches your account’s country.

Jimothy: a free Sidekick, not a skin

Which Epic Games Store purchases come with a free skin?

Thirteen games on the Epic Games Store currently include a Fortnite outfit with purchase. This is the biggest free-skin source in 2026, and it’s the reason the count is so much higher than it was a year ago.

The newest is Cel, which arrived with End of Abyss on October 1. It’s a $29.99 game, and the skin only unlocks for Epic Games Store purchases, not PS5 or Xbox copies. See our End of Abyss Cel skin guide for the timing.

Two details most guides skip, both from Epic’s own FAQ for these promos:

• The free skin stays available for as long as the game is sold on the Epic Games Store, so “no expiry” really means “until the listing changes.”
• If you already bought the outfit in the Item Shop, buying the game gives you a one-time 1,500 V-Bucks grant instead. That’s a good reason to grab the game before buying the skin separately.

Refunding the game also removes the skin from your Locker. Soul is the one to watch this month: Phantom Blade Zero launches October 29, and pre-purchasing on the Epic Games Store already unlocks the outfit.

How to get free Fortnite skins by linking accounts

Account linking is still the fastest zero-cost route. It takes about two minutes and needs no purchase.

LEGO: Explorer Emilie and Mr. Dappermint

Sign in at epicgames.com, open Apps and Accounts, and click Connect next to LEGO. Both outfits drop into your Locker with Fortnite and LEGO styles. If you already claimed Emilie years ago, you’ll just get Dappermint.

For Trailblazer Tai, grab the free True Explorers Quest Pack from the Item Shop and complete its LEGO Fortnite quests. It’s the slowest skin on this list, but it doesn’t expire.

MyDisney: now a back bling, not the Stormtrooper

Linking MyDisney no longer gives the First Order Stormtrooper. Epic’s help page shows that offer ended on October 31, 2025. The current reward is the Carbonite Fishstick back bling, free until October 31, 2026. After that, Epic says it may sell the item in the shop.

There’s also the Forsworn Trooper outfit, but it’s not practical for most people: you have to ride Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run at Disneyland or Walt Disney World with your MyDisney and Epic accounts linked.

Is there a free PlayStation Plus skin right now?

Yes. PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, and Premium members can claim the Pond Protector Pack on the PlayStation Store, which includes the Pond Guardian Froggory outfit with a LEGO style, a pickaxe, and a back bling. It went live on August 16, 2026, and Sony hasn’t posted an end date.

Claim it from the PS Store, then launch Fortnite on your PlayStation once so the items sync. After that, the skin works on every platform tied to your Epic account. Shinji, the PS Plus outfit some guides still list, isn’t the current pack.

Free Fortnite cosmetics that aren’t skins

These won’t change your outfit, but they cost nothing:

Can you still get a free skin from Fortnite tournaments?

Not this week, but cups come up often. Icon and crossover cups give their outfit to top regional finishers, usually a day or two before it reaches the Item Shop. Three ran in the last six weeks alone: the Crash Bandicoot Cup (August 28), the Champion Focus FNCS Cup (September 20), and the Madison Beer Icon Cup (September 24).

Is Fortnite Crew worth it for skins?

It’s not free, and it got worse value this year. Crew still costs $11.99 a month, but since June 6, 2026 it grants 800 V-Bucks instead of 1,000. You still get the monthly Crew outfit, the Battle Pass, and the OG, LEGO, and Music passes.

October’s Crew outfit is Osric the Uninvited, a vampire-cowboy skin. Our October 2026 Crew Pack breakdown lists everything in it. If you only want one skin a month, Crew makes sense. If you mainly wanted cheap V-Bucks, the June change cut that advantage by 20 percent.

Recently expired free skins

Free rewards tied to Ballistic (shut down April 16, 2026) and Rocket Racing (shut down October 1, 2026) are permanently gone as well, though you keep any car cosmetics you already own.

What happens to free skins when the season ends?

Chapter 7 Season 4 is set to end on October 31, 2026, the same day Fortnitemares wraps. Anything you claim stays in your Locker for good. What disappears are the chances to earn the time-limited ones: Jack-A-Nape, Gold Punk, the Carbonite Fishstick, and Jimothy.

My advice for the next three weeks: link LEGO and MyDisney today, chip away at the Nitemare quests each Thursday when a new wave drops, and check the Epic Games Store listing before you buy any new PC game. A lot of them come with a Fortnite outfit now.
