The Dylan Faden Outfit reached the Fortnite Item Shop on September 25, 2026, the day after CONTROL Resonant launched digitally on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Remedy’s new protagonist joins a busy run of game crossovers in Chapter 7 Season 4, titled Override, which already brought Lilith and the Borderlands bundles to the Shop.
You can get Dylan in two ways. You can pay 1,500 V-Bucks in the Shop, or you can get him free with any edition of CONTROL Resonant bought on the Epic Games Store. The cheaper route depends on whether you plan to play the game, and a little-known 12-month refund rule means buying the skin now carries almost no risk. Here’s how each route works.

The in-game description calls Dylan “a powerful parautilitarian working with the Federal Bureau of Control, trying to make amends for the past.” In CONTROL Resonant, he’s Jesse Faden’s younger brother, and the Bureau releases him from captivity to contain an entity that has taken over Manhattan.
How to buy the Dylan Faden skin from the Item Shop
- Launch Fortnite and open the Shop tab.
- Scroll to the CONTROL Resonant section.
- Select the Dylan Faden Outfit.
- Click and hold the Purchase button to spend 1,500 V-Bucks.
- Equip it from the Locker.
If you’d rather give the skin to a friend, select Gift instead of Purchase. You’ll need two-factor authentication turned on to send gifts.
How to get the Dylan Faden skin free with CONTROL Resonant
Epic grants the Outfit automatically when you buy any edition of CONTROL Resonant through the Epic Games Store. Purchases on Steam, the PlayStation Store, or the Xbox Store don’t count, and that includes the PS5 Deluxe Edition with 48-hour early access.
- Buy CONTROL Resonant (Standard Edition costs $59.99) on the Epic Games Store with the same Epic account you use for Fortnite.
- Launch Fortnite. The Outfit appears in your Locker automatically.
- On console, make sure your PlayStation, Xbox, or Switch account is linked to that Epic account so the skin shows up there too.
Gifting the game on the Epic Games Store also works. The person who receives it gets the Outfit.
Shop or game: which route costs less?
Epic cut V-Bucks per pack on March 19, 2026, and 1,500 V-Bucks no longer comes in a single clean purchase. Here’s what each route costs in the US:

If you only want the skin, the Shop costs about $18 at minimum. If you already planned to buy CONTROL Resonant, get it on the Epic Games Store rather than another storefront. Otherwise, you’ll pay for the skin separately.
The 12-month rule that makes buying now risk-free
Most coverage misses this part. If you buy Dylan in the Shop now and then buy CONTROL Resonant on the Epic Games Store within 12 months, Epic gives you 1,500 V-Bucks back instead of a duplicate Outfit.
So if you’re unsure about the game, buying the skin before it rotates out costs you nothing extra later. You keep Dylan either way, and the V-Bucks come back if you pick up the game.
However, refunding CONTROL Resonant removes the Outfit or the 1,500 V-Bucks you received through the promotion. Keep that in mind if you’re buying the game only to try it.
When does the Dylan Faden skin leave the Shop?
Epic hasn’t published an exit date. Fortnite.GG shows no departure timer at the time of writing, while one tracker lists the Outfit through October 1, 2026. Treat October 1 as the earliest likely exit, not a confirmed one.
The skin won’t disappear for good, though. Epic’s FAQ confirms the free Outfit offer stays active “for as long as CONTROL Resonant is available” on the Epic Games Store, and Gaming Legends Outfits usually come back to the Shop. That said, Shop returns for collab skins can take months, so don’t rely on a quick comeback if you want Dylan this season.
