Freddy Krueger Skin in Fortnite

Freddy Krueger arrived in the Fortnite Item Shop on October 2, 2026, at 8 PM ET (5 PM PT). He’s the second horror collab of Fortnitemares 2026, landing one day after Five Nights at Freddy’s. The A Nightmare on Elm Street set drops in Chapter 7 Season 4, titled Override. A boss version of Freddy also stalks the island.

You can only get the skin from the Item Shop. No quest, cup, or Battle Pass tier unlocks it, and beating the Freddy boss doesn’t give you the outfit. The listing is also limited-time, and trackers expect it to leave on October 16. Below, you’ll find what each option costs, which one is the better deal, and how to play as Freddy for free until then.

How to buy the Freddy Krueger skin in Fortnite

  1. Launch Fortnite and open the Shop tab from the lobby.
  2. Scroll to the A Nightmare on Elm Street section.
  3. Select the Freddy Krueger outfit (1,600 V-Bucks) or the full bundle (2,300 V-Bucks).
  4. Click and hold the Purchase button to confirm.

The outfit shows up in your Locker right away. Bundle items you already own get deducted from the price automatically.

Freddy Krueger skin price and bundle contents

The Freddy Krueger outfit costs 1,600 V-Bucks and comes with the Freddy’s Glove pickaxe. The full bundle costs 2,300 V-Bucks and includes all seven items. Fortnite.GG lists the skin as an Epic-rarity outfit with the description “One, two, Freddy’s coming for you.”

Is the Freddy Krueger bundle worth it?

Yes, if you want more than the outfit. Buying the skin and the other five items one at a time costs 4,700 V-Bucks. The bundle costs 2,300, so you save 2,400 V-Bucks. That’s 700 V-Bucks more than the skin alone for five extra cosmetics.

The cash math changed this year too. Since the V-Bucks repricing on March 19, 2026, the $8.99 pack gives 800 V-Bucks and the $22.99 pack gives 2,400. If you’re starting from zero:

  • Skin only: two $8.99 packs ($17.98) get you exactly 1,600 V-Bucks.
  • Full bundle: one $22.99 pack covers the 2,300 V-Bucks and leaves you 100.

So the full set costs $5.01 more than the outfit alone. If you’re a Fortnite Crew subscriber, the monthly grant is now 800 V-Bucks. That means two grants pay for the skin with nothing left over.

When does the Freddy Krueger skin leave the Item Shop?

Multiple trackers expect the A Nightmare on Elm Street set to leave on October 16, 2026, at 8 PM ET (5 PM PT). Epic doesn’t list an end date on the official shop page, and one outlet reports November 17 instead. Check the countdown timer in the shop before you plan around either date.

At the time of writing (October 5, 2026), Fortnite.GG shows the skin in three straight daily rotations. Its “introduced” date reads October 3 because the 8 PM ET drop falls after midnight UTC. Epic hasn’t confirmed a return. Licensed horror skins can come back in later Fortnitemares events, but there’s no guarantee.

How to play as Freddy Krueger for free

You can’t unlock the cosmetic for free, but you can still play as Freddy in a match. Head to the Nightmare Neighborhood, a new POI built as a stand-in for Elm Street. Freddy spawns there as a boss. When slow music starts playing, he’s nearby.

The boss can go invisible, take on another player’s look, and teleport close to strike. Stay at range with an AR or SMG and go for headshots. He isn’t a tough fight. Beating him drops Freddy’s Nightmare, a Mythic glove, plus a 1-Up Token, ammo, and healing items. Beebom also reports that the glove can show up as floor loot or in chests in the same POI.

Equipping Freddy’s Nightmare turns your character into Freddy. Here’s what it does:

  • Melee combo: three hits for 45, 50, and 55 damage.
  • Living Nightmare (alt-fire): pulls every enemy within 40m into a red zone for 20 seconds. You can teleport to random targets there while disguised as their skin.
  • Cooldown: 30 seconds, or less if you eliminate the trapped enemies first.
  • Movement: faster sprint and acceleration, plus higher jumps.

The Neighborhood and the boss stay until Fortnitemares ends on November 1, 2026. For more weapons to pair with the glove, see our list of Chapter 7 Season 4 exotic weapons.

Signing Off

The bundle is the better buy: 700 V-Bucks more than the skin gets you five extra cosmetics before the October 16 exit. If you’d rather not spend anything, the Mythic glove lets you play as Freddy until November 1. More Fortnitemares collabs are coming this month. Black Clover, Ghostface, and Hollow Knight are already out, and Obsession is expected after the October 15 patch.

Is the Freddy Krueger skin free in Fortnite?

No. It costs 1,600 V-Bucks in the Item Shop. The free Freddy’s Nightmare Mythic only changes how you look during a match.

How many items are in the A Nightmare on Elm Street bundle?

Seven: the outfit, Freddy’s Glove pickaxe, Back Boiler back bling, Flames wrap, Freddy’s Coming emote, Krueger Specials kicks, and the Boilermaker guitar.

Does Robert Englund voice Freddy in Fortnite?

Epic hasn’t credited a voice actor. Claims that Englund voices the character come from a single leak account on X.

Does defeating the Freddy boss unlock the skin?

No. The boss drops the Freddy’s Nightmare Mythic and a 1-Up Token. The outfit is only sold in the shop.

Which other collabs are part of Fortnitemares 2026?

Five Nights at Freddy’s arrived on October 1, followed by Black Clover on October 3, Halloween Horror Nights on October 5, Ghostface on October 6, and Hollow Knight on October 7.
