Five Exotic weapons are currently in the loot pool of Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, titled Override. All five arrived with the v42.20 update on September 17, 2026, the same patch that brought the Kingdom Hearts crossover and the Kingdom Key Mythic.
This season changes how you get them. No NPC sells Exotics for Gold Bars, so you can’t save up and buy the exact gun you want. Instead, each Exotic is a random drop from one of three map activities: the Duck Race, the Mega Maze vault and the Tetris Tower Rift Anomaly. Knowing which activity suits your drop plan matters more than knowing which gun is the strongest.
Below, you’ll find every Exotic, what it does, how to counter it and the fastest way to get one.

All Exotic weapons in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4
1. Overclocked 8-Bit Shotgun
- Ability: Siphons health and shield from enemies whenever it deals damage
- Stats: 108 damage, 1.4 fire rate, 10-round magazine, 2.52s reload
- Best paired with: A mid-range AR, since the 8-Bit covers close range and sustain
- Counter: Don’t trade shots up close. Every hit your opponent lands heals them, so disengage and fight at range.
The 8-Bit gives you sustain that no other shotgun does. It also holds 10 shells, so you rarely reload mid-fight.
2. Exotic Rebecca’s Guns
- Ability: Bullets ricochet off surfaces and explode, dealing area damage
- Stats: 9 to 17 damage per shot, 12 and 6 fire rate (SMG and burst side), 40 and 20-round magazines
- Best paired with: A shotgun, since the guns cover mid-range
- Counter: Cover doesn’t protect you well, because ricochets hit around corners. Build or reposition rather than hiding behind one wall.
The standard Rebecca’s Guns from the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners collaboration drop in regular chests from Uncommon to Legendary, and the Mythic comes from Adam Smasher at Geno’s Machine. The Exotic version is the only one with explosive ricochets. That makes it the standout for shooting players out of cover, and several guides rank it as the strongest Exotic of the season.
3. Accelerant Drum Gun
- Ability: Fire rate climbs up to 33% and movement speed up to 50% while you hold the trigger
- Stats: 23 damage, 9 to 12 fire rate, 48-round magazine
- Best paired with: A pump shotgun for burst damage
- Counter: The ramp resets when the user stops firing. Break line of sight to force a reset.
The speed boost is the real benefit here. You can spray and rotate across open ground at the same time, which helps a lot in late-zone fights.
4. Balloon Popper Assault Rifle
- Ability: The 1st, 12th and 24th shots trigger balloon explosions that attach balloons to targets. Eliminating a player who has balloons attached drops healing orbs.
- Stats: 33 damage, 5.5 fire rate, 25-round magazine
- Best paired with: Any shotgun
- Counter: Balloons lift you and make you an easy target. Pop them or get under cover before you float into open sky.
The healing orbs make this rifle a strong pick in squads, because your whole team refills after a clean elimination.
5. Overpowered Pump Shotgun
- Ability: Each consecutive hit adds 5 damage, up to +25. A miss resets the bonus.
- Stats: 119 to 144 damage, 0.7 fire rate, 5-round magazine
- Best paired with: The Balloon Popper AR or Rebecca’s Guns
- Counter: Make the user miss. Edit plays and sidesteps reset the stack.
This shotgun rewards accuracy more than any other Exotic. Hit three or more shots in a row and you’ll often end a fight in one shot.
How to get Exotic weapons in Fortnite
Every method gives you a random Exotic, so you can’t pick which one you get. Run the same activity several times if you’re after a specific weapon.
1. Duck Race at Heatwave Harbor
- Land on the north side of Heatwave Harbor, near the small bridge.
- Find the row of four rubber ducks on the south side of the bridge and hold Interact to start the race.
- Follow the ducks through the course to the finish line.
- Collect the loot the cannons fire out at the end, which can include an Exotic.
2. Mega Maze vault
- Go to Mega Maze, northeast of Sunken Shores.
- Find the Temple Vault Key inside a moving, invisible container. It leaves a visible trail, so spot it while gliding or from the top of the maze walls.
- Get close and destroy the container, which appears as a glowing urn.
- Take the key to the sun-disc pedestal by the west-side stairs to open the vault.
- Open the two rare purple chests inside. Those are your Exotic rolls.
The maze spawns walls and fire-trap floor plates, so watch the ground as you move. Once you’ve looted the vault, use the portable toilet inside to teleport out of the maze.
3. Tetris Tower Rift Anomaly
- Look for the Tetris Tower on the map. It’s a Rift Anomaly, so it spawns in a random place each match.
- Climb to the top of the tower.
- Interact with the Rift at the summit for a random reward, which can be an Exotic.
Which Exotic method should you pick?

The Mega Maze vault gives you the most value per trip. You get two rare chests plus two standard chests and gold, so even a bad Exotic roll leaves you well geared. The Duck Race is faster but often ends in an early fight. The Tetris Tower works best as a mid-game detour if it spawns along your rotation.
Exotics vs Mythics in Override
Several of this season’s headline weapons are Mythics, not Exotics, and they drop from different sources. Midas’ Masterpiece, the one-shot golden pistol, currently comes from its own Drop Rift Anomaly. The Mega Buster, the Kingdom Key and the Mythic Rebecca’s Guns come from bosses and events. None of these drop from the three Exotic activities above.
Signing Off
The five v42.20 Exotics have noticeably changed close-range fights this season, and random drops make each one harder to get than the old Gold Bar Exotics. Override ends on October 31, 2026, and Fortnitemares is expected to start around October 1, so the loot pool could change before then.
