How to Get the Vampire Sprite in Fortnite (Fortnitemares)

The Vampire Sprite arrived with Fortnitemares 2026 on October 1. It's a Legendary Sprite that returns health as you deal damage. You can only get it from Pumpkin Chests or Trick or Treat cheat codes, and you need to extract it before the match ends.

Epic released the Vampire Sprite on October 1, 2026 in the v42.30 Fortnitemares update for Chapter 7 Season 4. Servers went down at 4 AM ET (1 AM PT) and came back at 6 AM ET (3 AM PT) with a Halloween loot pool. The Vampire Sprite is a Legendary companion that heals you while you deal damage, and it’s one of the top picks in the Fortnite Sprite system right now.

You can’t find it in every chest. Sprite Chests left the loot pool in v42.10, so the Vampire only comes from a few Fortnitemares sources. The base version has a drop chance of about 1.77%. Below, you’ll find where to get it, which variant is worth your time, and how to max it out.

What does the Vampire Sprite do in Fortnite?

The Vampire Sprite gives you health back whenever you damage an enemy. The percentage of damage it returns goes up each time the Sprite levels up. According to datamined values, it reaches 50% siphon at max level.

In practice, the 50% figure means a fight where you deal 150 damage gives you about 75 HP back without using a Med Kit. That matters most in third-party fights, where you rarely get time to heal between enemies. However, it does nothing for passive players. If you hide and rotate, the Sprite never triggers. It’s built for players who start fights.

  • Rarity tier: Legendary
  • Ability: Recover health when damaging an enemy
  • Max-level siphon: Up to 50% (datamined)
  • Added: October 1, 2026 (v42.30)

The Vampire Sprite has two in-match sources: Pumpkin Chests and Trick or Treat cheat codes. Importantly, Admin Panel codes in the lobby can’t redeem Fortnitemares sprites.

  1. Drop at a POI with plenty of chests. Coverage currently points to Golden Grove, Chopped Shop, and Sunken Shores as reliable spots.
  2. Open every Pumpkin Chest you find. These Halloween containers replace standard chests as the main Sprite source during the event.
  3. Enter the Trick or Treat cheat codes you come across on the island. When a cheat code gives you a Sprite, it also gives you a bonus reward for that match.
  4. Once the Vampire Sprite is in your inventory, head to an extraction site and extract it before the match ends.
  5. After extraction, summon the Vampire Sprite from your collection using Sprite Dust and equip it for your next match.

Step 4 is where most players lose it. If you’re eliminated while carrying the Sprite, it doesn’t count toward your collection. So plan an escape route before you engage anyone.

All Vampire Sprite variants and which one to chase

The Vampire Sprite comes in six versions. Each variant keeps the siphon ability and adds its own perk.

VariantAdded perkStatus (October 2, 2026)
VampireBase siphon onlyLive
Gold VampireEarns extra Sprite XP from eliminationsLive
Cheat Master VampireCheat Code inputs count as correctLive
Loot Hacker VampireRaises the chance of items from your selected Loot HacksLive
Bounty Hunter VampireChance to find a Sprite when you eliminate an opponent; gains Sprite XP only from eliminationsLive
Trick or Treat VampireNot confirmedUnreleased, expected around October 8

The Bounty Hunter Vampire is the standout. Its elimination-only XP rule fits the Vampire’s damage-based healing, so the playstyle that keeps you alive also levels the Sprite and can drop more Sprites. The Cheat Master variant suits players who hunt cheat codes, since it removes the guesswork from entering them.

Unlike the Loot Hacker Crown Sprite, these variants don’t need to be unlocked in order. You can find any of them in a Pumpkin Chest without mastering the base Vampire first. Additionally, watch for the weekly Sprite Power Hour. It has previously boosted spawn rates for Gold and Cheat Master variants, though Epic hasn’t confirmed an October schedule.

How to level up and master the Vampire Sprite

The Vampire Sprite levels up through duplicates. Since the v42.10 leveling update, extracting a copy of a Sprite you already own adds Sprite XP to the one in your collection. Collect enough duplicates to reach level 5, where the siphon is at its strongest. Then take the Sprite into a match and extract it once more to master it.

Mastery also saves Sprite Dust. Mastered Sprites cost half as much to resummon, which helps if you keep losing the Vampire to eliminations. The Bounty Hunter variant is the exception: it only gains XP from eliminations, so duplicates won’t level it.

Signing Off

The Vampire Sprite is currently the best sustain option in the Fortnitemares loot pool, especially for players who fight often. Trick or Treat variants are expected around October 8, and the Honey and Obsession Sprites follow on October 15. That update also brings more FNAF crossover content, so the Sprite meta may shift again before Halloween.

What rarity is the Vampire Sprite in Fortnite?

The Vampire Sprite is Legendary. Its base drop chance is about 1.77%, so expect to open several Pumpkin Chests before you see one.

How many Vampire Sprite variants are there?

There are six: Vampire, Gold, Cheat Master, Loot Hacker, Bounty Hunter, and Trick or Treat. All except Trick or Treat are live as of October 2, 2026.

Will the Vampire Sprite leave after Fortnitemares?

Epic hasn’t confirmed this. Fortnitemares 2026 is expected to end around October 31, and Pumpkin Chests may leave with it. Extract the Sprite before then to keep it permanently.

Can you get the Vampire Sprite from Admin Panel codes?

No. Admin Panel lobby codes can’t redeem Fortnitemares sprites. Only Pumpkin Chests and Trick or Treat cheat codes in matches drop it.

Which other Sprites arrived with Fortnitemares 2026?

The October 1 update also added the Spooky Dash, Deer, and Dumpster Dive Sprites. The Honey and Obsession Sprites are set to arrive on October 15.
