Toy Story 5 hit Disney+ on September 23, 2026, and Disney and Pixar marked the occasion a day early with a limited-time Fortnite event called Toy Story 5: The Great Toy Rescue. It went live on September 22, in the middle of Chapter 7 Season 4, titled Override, and runs until October 5.
This is the second Toy Story crossover this year, but it works differently from the first. The April drop sold Buzz Lightyear and Emperor Zurg skins in the Item Shop. This one sells nothing. Instead, it’s a free adventure that sends you across several Creator islands to find six missing toys, and it offers no skins at all.

What is Toy Story 5: The Great Toy Rescue?
The Great Toy Rescue is a Disney-published island built around Bonnie’s room from Toy Story 5. According to the official island description, a glitch has scattered Jessie, Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Rex, Hamm, and Forky across Fortnite. You track them down on partner Creator islands and bring them home.
Disney calls it the first time it has linked a Disney-branded adventure across multiple creator-made islands in Fortnite. Bonnie’s room is the hub, and you enter each partner island through a portal. Red vs. Blue is one confirmed partner island; Disney hasn’t published the full list.

All six toy rescue missions
Every toy has its own objective on a partner island. Completing it returns the toy to Bonnie’s room.

Woody’s mission is the only one built around a two-player squad, so it’s easier with a friend. Buzz’s mission looks like the toughest of the six, since it mixes platforming with competition from other players.
Abilities you unlock in Bonnie’s room
Rescues also bring back codes that unlock new powers in Bonnie’s room. Each power opens a new part of the hub, which includes a castle, an ancient temple, and a spaceship built out of Bonnie’s furniture and imagination.
The official island listing names six abilities:
- Jump Pad
- Flint Knock
- Pickaxe
- Lift Strength
- Teleport
- Cobweb Slip
Disney-focused outlets also mention a jet pack and an “Imagination” transport ability, which may be alternate names for items on this list. Go by the names shown in-game.
Hidden collectibles and rewards
Bonnie’s room contains three sets of collectibles on top of the six rescues:
- Targets: 50
- Hi-Tech Buzz figures: 30
- Memories: 10
You earn XP for missions and collectibles, which adds a small boost to your Battle Pass progress. It won’t beat dedicated grinding, so pair it with the best Fortnite XP maps if leveling is your priority. The island also has a Photobooth Mode for pictures with the characters.

Best order to rescue the toys
Rescues don’t follow a fixed order, but your abilities stack up as you go, so the sequence matters. Here’s the most efficient route:
- Load island code 6059-3243-8283 from the Discover tab.
- Start with Woody and Forky. Their missions are simple collection tasks and get your first abilities unlocked.
- Move on to Hamm, Rex, and Jessie once you’ve unlocked a few abilities.
- Finish with Buzz Lightyear, since his platforming mission is easier with the full kit.
- Clean up the 90 collectibles in Bonnie’s room after all six toys are home.

The Great Toy Rescue is easy to confuse with the April crossover, but the two share almost nothing except the license.

The April set also carried a Pizza Planet Delivery Truck car bundle, the Lightyear Wings glider, the Destroy Buzz emote, and a three-eyed Alien Sidekick. The bundle was the best deal of that drop: buying both skins separately already cost 3,100 V-Bucks before any accessories. Neither skin is in the Item Shop at the time of writing, and Epic hasn’t announced a return date.
Is there a Woody skin in Fortnite?
No. Woody showed up in leaks back in March 2026, but Epic released only Buzz and Zurg in April. A second wave timed to the June 19 theatrical release never arrived.
The Great Toy Rescue is currently the closest Fortnite has come to Woody. He’s a character you rescue, not a skin you can wear. A playable Woody could still come later, but neither Epic nor Disney has confirmed one.
Signing Off
Disney keeps expanding its Fortnite presence, from the Kingdom Hearts skins to the Disney Parks-exclusive Forsworn Trooper. The Great Toy Rescue is a free platformer rather than a cosmetics drop, and it lasts only two weeks.
If this multi-island format works, expect more film tie-ins built the same way, and perhaps the Woody skin fans have wanted since March.
