Fortnite’s Pac-Man collab landed with update v42.20 on September 17, 2026, bringing Mecha Ghost bosses and a new companion, the Blinky Sprite, to Chapter 7 Season 4: Override. It’s based on Blinky from the PAC-MAN: Snack Breaks animated series, and it’s already one of the more sought-after sprites of the season.
The Blinky Sprite is a Legendary companion with a genuinely useful combat effect, not just a cosmetic tagalong. It’s also time-limited: Epic has confirmed the Pac-Man content, ghosts included, leaves the game on October 31, 2026. If you want it, you have a little over six weeks.
Here’s what the sprite does, and every way to pick one up before it’s gone.
What the Blinky Sprite does
The Blinky Sprite’s passive ability cloaks you for a few seconds whenever you take damage. Think of it as a built-in disengage: get hit, turn invisible, reposition or heal before the enemy can follow up. The cloak window scales with the sprite’s level, starting around 3 seconds at Level 1 and stretching to roughly 5 seconds once you’ve leveled it to 5.
Like other companions this season, Blinky needs to be banked at an Extraction Site or a portable Extractor to keep it permanently; winning a match extracts it automatically. How to get the Blinky Sprite in Fortnite
There’s no single guaranteed method yet, but four approaches consistently work:
- Defeat a Mecha Ghost boss. These are the new Pac-Man mini-bosses roaming the island. They drop high-tier Mythic loot on elimination, and the Blinky Sprite has a high drop chance from them specifically.
- Loot chests, especially Relic Chests. Regular chests can drop it, but Relic Chests inside Temple Vaults have better odds.
- Check the in-game Admin Panel. Epic occasionally posts redemption codes on social media that unlock free sprites through the Admin Panel button in the main menu. - Play at night. Mecha Ghosts and their loot spawn more often during the in-match night cycle, so late-game circles after dark are worth prioritizing if you’re farming the sprite.
Where to find Blinky Island, Pinky Island, and Pac-Man Island
Mecha Ghosts spawn across the map, but three new named islands have the highest concentration, and the best odds at a Blinky Sprite drop.
Blinky Island
Blinky Island sits in the southwest corner of the map, just west of Sunken Shores and south of Heatwave Harbor. It’s a small landmass, so expect only a handful of chests, gear up on the mainland first if you’re landing here late.
Pinky Island
Pinky Island is in the southeast corner, west of Cluster Coast and directly south of Shaken Sanctuary. Same setup as Blinky Island: light on loot, heavy on Mecha Ghost traffic.
Pac-Man Island
Pac-Man Island is at the northern end of the map, east of Lifty Lodge, north of The Battlewoods, and west of Latte Landing. It’s the largest of the three and typically sees the most contested landings early in a match.
